Large Google map of Cardigan High St. |
"Croeso i Cardigan." Welcome to Cardigan. Lots of shops and businesses here on the high street. Unfortunately, despite the beauty of the Georgian and Victorian buildings, it doesn't feel very relaxing due to the narrow pavements and the number of cars around. The town is sited on the Teifi Estuary and has a long history as a cultural and commercial centre. For visitors it is ideally located for access to Cardigan Bay and the wonderful scenery of the Teifi Valley. Most of Cardigan Castle is hidden from visitors but click on the link and you'll find the secrets of this once imposing building overlooking the river. Kids will love the Cardigan Island Farm Park that includes unusual animals such as emus and llama. Older children may prefer the Castell Henllys, a reconstruction of an Iron Age Fort from 600BC. The fort is the site of an archaeological excavation and there is a tour, all set in a beautiful woodland setting. Lots of tourist information can be found on the 'Visit Cardigan' website. |
